I think that your logo is really not bad for a first try.
My remarks :
I think that the letter "a" in red doesn't look like a real "a".
I like the grey part and the shadows, can you try to change the grey color ? maybe in black or in another colour, i don't know.
Can you try to do a colour gradation between the two letter ? red -> orange -> yellow
