Together with talented tailors from Kibera, Kenya we run a fashion label: Wakuu shop. Our logo (sadly) turned out to be copied and stolen. Now we are looking for something iconic as we had, but original. The logo will be used online, in marketing and in the clothing labels.
We prefer it in black and white since our apparel is already super colourful.

WAKUU means CHIEFS in Kiswahili.
We started out making colourful suits out of west-african Kitenge prints. Currently we're also working on t-shirts, bow-ties, vest, indian shirts and a proper ladies collection!
It's a social enterprise, a capacity building & employment project, hoping to improve the livelihoods of talented tailors in Kibera. Through our website & marketing we provide them with a platform to reach European and expat markets. Currently all our earning are invested in vocational training, capacity training and improving the work shop, which is run and maintained by a partner NGO. Our tailors are mainly single mothers whom where selected by our partner NGO.
We believe in the vast potential of the talent and ambition of our tailor and hope to grow wakuu into a strong independent fashion brand that can help these single mothers to beat the odds and grow with us. Private sector development and women's rights and employment are the main drivers of prosperity in Kibera.

Hallo Daan, zoals je kunt zien ben ik verder gaan werken aan het logo. Dit ontwerp bestaat volledig uit (elkaar kruisende) driehoeken. Ik denk niet dat ik hier nog veel aan zou kunnen veranderen of verbeteren, maar desgewenst zou er een ander font (soort/formaat) gebruikt kunnen worden. Dus ik hoor graag je feedback! Hi Daan,
There seems no reason why you couldn't still use a lion (the ‘chief of animals’) as an emblem – as long as the logo is an original design. So I created a fully new lions head, wearing a radiant set of manes, which also refers to the African sun and the vibrant colours of WAKUU.
