Needs

Design a strong and modern logo for the Cryogenics Society of Europe (CSE). This Society unites researchers in Europe working in the field of Cryogenics in universities, industries, and other institutes.

Literally translated from Greek “cryogenics” means the art of producing cold. However, what is meant here is really cold meaning typically the temperature of liquid air (- 200 C) or lower, all the way down to the absolute zero temperature.

Apart from scientific interest cryogenics is widely applied, e.g. in cooling MRI scanners in hospitals, densifying gases such as natural gas for cost efficient transport, preserving biological tissue, cooling optical detectors in space satellites for atmosphere measurements etc. etc.

The Society was founded in April 2015 and its objectives are:
a. to strengthen the European position of cryogenic technologies;
b. to represent European activities in cryogenic technologies in social, scientific, industrial and political forums;
c. to promote communication and information exchange in the area of cryogenic technologies;
d. to foster the training of young researchers in the area of cryogenic technologies;
e. to bring together those active in cryogenic technologies and potential user communities so as to stimulate applications of these technologies.

The Society already has a preliminary website, which can be visited to get more information (www.cryosoceurope.org). Obviously, the site is in need of a logo. The logo as such should also be applicable in other forms of communication, e.g. in flyers and letters, and conference announcements.

Finally, it should be noted that cryogenics is not about cold as such but about *artificial cold*, the art of producing cold, as mentioned above. One of the pioneers in ultra-low temperature technology, Olli Lounasmaa made the following statement, indicating the technological challenges:

“An experimentalist wishing to pursue research at low temperatures faces four technical difficulties: how to reach the low temperature, how to measure it, how to reduce the external heat
leak so that the low temperature can be maintained for a sufficiently long time, and how to transfer cold from one place to the other. Many experimental methods have been developed to provide a satisfactory solution to these problems.”
(Lounasmaa)

Hello, this is my 2nd entry.
This was made so it symbolizes the moving, changing of the temperature. I hope you like this one more. If you like this I can make more variations with it. As well it's not really a standard logo which could make it stand out a bit more.

PS. The Logo is a bit bigger than the text just because of the low quality of the images here on BrandSupply.

Kind regards,
Philip M.
